SWISSNESS goes GLOBAL: Val Maighels

Over New Year's four days were spent backcountry skiing in Val Maighels. Hardly believing that there would be enough snow, I boarded the train early in the morning. Upon arriving on Oberalppass, the group gathered and the tour started. After about 10 minutes on skis, we put the skis on our backs and walked downhill on the asphalt road for at least half an hour... What a start :) Later, we found snow again and ascended to the hut where we stayed for the upcoming three nights.

One day, Piz Borel was the goal and we ascended in the cold shade (where the snow) and across the glacier leaving the skis to climb the last bit to the peak. What a spectacular view and sun! Good moments. On the other days, no more peaks were on the programme. Instead we focused on some avalanche rescue training, some route planing skills and technical exercises. All in all, a wonderful time spent in the mountain!
