On the way from Aladaglar back to Izmir, we stopped for a day in Göreme. Situated in the Anatolian plateau, the Cappadocia region is famous for its unique landscape dominated by bizarre erosive rock formations, rock-sanctuaries rich in Byzantine art and underground towns.
Very touristy in places, we paid the fee to check out the UNESCO world heritage site. Later, we opted for a more quiet walk exploring a nearby valley with literally no tourists and stunning scenery instead! Definetly worth a trip!

Having returned to Izmir on yet another overnight bus, we did a 2-day motorbike ride in the larger Izmir area. We stayed overnight in a wonderful pension and enjoyed going for a swim and drinking some Turkish coffee in small seaside villages along the way.

Eventually, it was time to head back to Switzerland for a friend's wedding.
